Local sailor Justin McAullay held off Nick Jerwood and Craig Taylor in a closely fought finish to clinch the DF95 WA State title
The easterlies remained at Jackadder Lake, Woodlands, from the previous day so PRO Rod Moss retained the ‘outside in’ top gate and regular ‘inside out’ bottom gate used for the DF65’s event until early afternoon when the wind finally switched to a SSW breeze. This did then show up the unpredictable and flukey conditions experienced regularly at Jackadder which may have provided a slight edge to the local sailors although being unpredictable one could hardly say it provided any great advantage.
A fleet size of 20 entries again necessitated the use of the HMS multi-fleet scoring system, sailing two heats for every race. Congratulations to Rod Moss and boatman Rob Mews (plus the army of volunteers) for keeping up the pace and achieving a total of 12 races for the day.
Once again, acknowledgement and thanks to Dave and June Odlum for organising the day and laying on a superb wrap lunch with plenty of water and cold drinks, and the scoring/race committee team of David, Mark, Hunter plus help from many other volunteers like Tim, Barry, Ron. We had representation from as far afield as NSW and Tasmania, Exmouth and Albany plus several of the metro clubs. In a closely fought finish local sailor Justin McAullay took the chocolates from Nick Jerwood in second and another local, Craig Taylor, in third. Thanks also to City of Stirling Councillor, Elizabeth Re, who has been a long time supporter of the club and who donated prizes for the event.
