New Thursday & Saturday start time of 1:30pm and new format of 'two on, two off' adopted from 1st March
Following a trial for the first couple of months of 2023, the Committee has adopted a 'two races on, two races off' format for both IOM and DF95s. This has proven to be a popular change, making the afternoon's racing a lot more relaxing for both duty crew and competitors alike, but does necessitate a rapid changeover between classes and virtually no time for competitors to 'tweak and twiddle' between the races. The recommendation for those in the first race of the pair unfortunate enough to pick up weed or to suffer some mishap, that they abandon that race as soon as the problem becomes apparent (that's why we have drops!) and resolve the problem before the next race. Similarly, a boatman from each class need be nominated before racing and they attend to any rescues whilst their boat/class is off the water. That way the afternoon's racing can continue smoothly. To allow for delays due to light or no winds causing late starts or multiple course changes, we have also elected to begin our afternoon's racing at 1:30pm instead of the previous norm of 2:00pm.
